A New Era in Raptor Care

Capes Raptor Centre, formerly known as Eagles Heritage, has entered a new chapter in its long history of raptor care, education, and conservation.

With a renewed focus and a bold vision for the future, the transformation of Capes Raptor Centre reflects an ongoing commitment to advancing the welfare of raptors, sharing their stories, and creating meaningful experiences for visitors.

Capes Raptor Centre is evolving to become a world-leading facility dedicated to the conservation of Australian raptors.

Founder Phil Pain joined the Capes Raptor team for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the transition and celebrate the new era of the centre.

Recent Developments and Future Plans

Significant upgrades are underway to improve both visitor experiences and the care provided for the birds.

These include:

  • Flight Arena upgrades – Improved visitor seating with three fixed semi-dome structures, dedicated wheelchair spaces, and better access.
  • Enhanced care and rehabilitation facilities – Upgrades for the many birds undergoing treatment and rehabilitation for release back into the wild.
  • Refurbished and new aviaries – Modernised aviaries designed for the welfare and safety of resident raptors.
  • New interpretive signage – Along the Birds of Prey Forest Walk, offering insights into the lives and behaviours of raptors.
  • Expanded carpark – Increasing capacity from 20 to 45 bays, including bus and accessible parking, along with improved pathways for easy access.

Our vision is to create a world-class facility that not only cares for raptors but also inspires and educates our visitors. These upgrades are important steps in that journey.

Conservation, Community, and Connection

Capes Foundation’s focus extends beyond raptor care. We’re committed to conservation, education, and creating experiences that help people connect with the region’s natural and cultural heritage.

Our work centres on:

  • Conservation & Restoration – Implementing projects that protect and restore natural habitats and historical assets.
  • Education & Interpretation – Offering programs and resources to educate the public about the environment, history and culture of the region.
  • Appreciation & Enjoyment of Nature – Creating enjoyable and informative experiences for the community and visitors to the region.

Honouring a Legacy

This new chapter builds on the legacy of Eagles Heritage founder Phil Pain, who has been instrumental in establishing and supporting the centre since 1987.

I’m supportive and excited about the investment into the park, which will help it become one of the leading raptor facilities in Australia.

~ Phil Pain, Eagles Heritage Founder
